Each portrait is a unique portrayal, using a hybrid of traditional and contemporary styles. I often paint from a black and white photo reference, making these ideal paintings from old family photos.

THE EYES ARE THE WINDOWS TO THE SOUL
People first notice the eyes in my portraits. The eyes capture the essence of each person I paint. The palette-knife strokes of color capture their likeness and spirit.
Maybe it's time for a portrait...
If you are considering a portrait, first we will meet, either in person or virtually. I'd love to discuss your portrait over coffee. I want to know about the person I am painting. Who are they to you? Is it a great-grandmother, a son, or maybe a grandchild? What are they like? I love hearing their stories, and gain insight to their personality. Their story becomes part of the painting.
As I set up for each portrait, and during the painting, I pray about the person and their family. In prayer, I agree with what God has to say about them and about you: You are loved and you have purpose. You are a masterpiece.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR A PORTRAIT
All portraits are painted on 1.5" deep gallery-wrapped canvas. The sides are finished and painted. A dust-cover is attached to the back, and it is wired and ready to hang. You won't even need to purchase a frame! Of course, if you prefer a framed painting, we can discuss your options. My paintings are signed on the front, as well as signed and dated on the back.
I request a 50% non-refundable deposit when we get started. I say "we" because you are part of the process! I love hearing about the person I will be painting. When you commission a painting, I will give you a time-frame, usually 2-4 weeks (please allow extra time for Christmas gifts, especially if shipping is required). I will update you during the process too.
