So Thankful

I love November. Even as the days become shorter, and as I write this, with fresh results of an historic election, I choose to live in gratitude. I am relieved and happy about many outcomes, and not so happy about some in my city and state. Through it all, I choose to live in gratitude.

I have friends from one political extreme to the other, and most of us are somewhere in between. Regardless what may come, autumn in Colorado has been glorious, the sun will still rise, and my faith is still grounded in Jesus Christ.

As a follower of Jesus, I know that joy and happiness are two different things. Happiness is based upon circumstances. Looking out my window at the aspens turning golden makes me happy. Good food makes me happy. Spending a day exploring galleries and boutiques with a friend makes me very happy.

Joy is different. Joy is deeper. Joy is assurance that all is well with my soul, even if my circumstances say otherwise. Joy is knowing that whatever may be happening in the world, I know that God has me. Joy sprouts from gratitude.

Meditate about it for awhile.

Afterwards, be sure to come back and read. I have some great art updates and a special offer for you.

First, art updates. The past two years, my art has been on quite the journey. This goes against all recommendations by people-in-the-know. “They” say that I should find a medium and stick to it. I see the logic in that, really I do. But…. I love it all, and I must follow my heart, or my muse, or my inspiration, which I believe is the Holy Spirit.

Lately, I have been painting in oils, and I am loving it. Oils were my thing way back in college. It’s a long story (read my bio here). Honestly, I am so happy to be back in oils. Between you and me… I really hope it sticks around for awhile. I have a lot to learn! Three of my recent floral still life paintings are available at Lincoln Gallery.

Back to gratitude… I am so grateful for my parents who sent me to college to study art. Art is in my soul. If I’m not making art, I ain’t right.

I am also extremely grateful for YOU. There’s something about making art. It must be done. And it must find a home. I believe every piece of artwork needs to find its person. That’s where you come in.

If you have purchased artwork from me, I thank you.

If you have encouraged me in my art journey, I thank you.

And now, as I continue to evolve in my art journey, I must let go of the works that have been the building blocks of where I am today. I am now drastically reducing the price on my acrylic paintings. If you have loved that bold style of mine, you will want to get one while you can. I only have a few left. Contact me if you are interested in one of these pieces. I am currently working on my last commission in that style. After that, who knows?

I am also updating my email list. If you enjoy receiving a little inspo in your inbox about once a month, I would like to mail you a gift. Really. In order to do this, please click the button:
